Which one is better between Creative Lab Anihilator PRO (Geforce 256 DDR) or the Diamond Viper Viper II S3 Savage 2000.
Please tell me why you would think so

I am going to add another totally different comparison
How is the Xpert 2000 (Rage 128 32Mb) compare to the Viper II Savage 2000? Please tell why you pick it.

I am most concern with picture quality as I only play mostly first person shooter. like Quake3, or UT.

well I would say the CL Anihilator PRO simply b/c it is a geforce 🙂. Seriously though, it does hold a performance advantage over the savage card, but in terms of picture quality, you wouldn't notice any big differences between the 2 cards, although (and I am only speculating), I believe the Savage has better 2d and the Geforce has better 3d image quality
 
The geforce DDR is much faster, gets frequent driver updates, can run at higher bus speeds. The savage has some issues with certain games.
 
Don't forget the fact that Diamond/S3 stinks, and have now been sold to somebody (I forget who?)

If you're a gamer, go with the geforce- unless you can find the cash for an ATI Radeon, which is far and away my preferred card. In a few weeks, you'll also be ab;e to get a Radeon VE, which will be priced competitively with the Geforce MX (i.e. around the $100 price point) and which would in my opinion then be the best value.

If you need a cheap card right now (which I assume you do, since the Viper II can be had around $40 after rebate), I'd look for a Voodoo3- its 2d quality is IMO quite good for the money, and its 3d speed will blow away the Viper.

Bad Dude, if picture quality is your concern, I think you should consider the Radeon. I own an asus v7700 Geforce2 ddr which has inferior text and picture display than the recently bought radeon 32meg ddr from best buy's deal.
 
Levcos, a man after my own heart! I love the Radeon too. It really is the best card out there. I managed to get the 32 DDr Radeon for 200 fro compusa, the cheapest I found on the net was like 165, but that was a few weeks ago. I figure I'll pay a little extra to have a exchange policy where I can reach across a counter and strangle them if they try to give me crap on returns...🙂
 
Thanks guys but I now own a CLAP DDR for about 3 months now. The Radeon was not available. I just bought the VIper 2 and now sold the Xpert 2000. Unless some one wants to trade with my CLAP and cash, I cannot afford a Radeon now.

the xpert2000 3d speed wise isn't that fast . Its a rage128 vr, so it has a 64bit memory bus, compared to a rage128gl 's 128bits
