Thanks for all the info., I hope I don't upset you ATI guys I was looking at the 9500 pro hard, but I got worried about compatibility issues, my pc came with a MX440,so I went ahead an bought a TI 4600 .

Yep. Not the best at AA or AF, nor does it have DX9 features, but it's still a decent and fast card.
If you were gonna' stick with GF4 I'd 'ave stuck with the much cheaper TI 4200, overclock to ~TI4400 speeds and hold out for new stuff - or just gone with a 5600 to gain the new graphic features and improved output.

But you've bought and paid for, so I won't press the matter further... you won't be getting a BAD card by any means! 🙂
 
I'm going to dig a little deeper an make sure the ATI cards will work for me, if so I might give the TI to my son an buy a ATI anyway.
 
Ok, I'm embarrassed for asking, but I'd rather feel stupid than find out I have compatability issues after I purchase a 9500Pro. Will a 9500Pro work with this monitor (a NEC LCD1760V)? Since that monitor doesn't support DVI, will it work?

Haha, I'm obviously confused, but this will be my first computer that I actually build. Thanks for the help.

The issues aren't with MONITORS, it's with a few motherboards - very recent ones at that.

If you're gonna get rid of it, do it now, then get an Asus V8420S... it's a Ti4200 that overclocks higher than stock Ti4600 speeds... I have one myself actually. Very nice card for under $140.

Got my new TI 4600 yesterday, major jump from the MX 440, 3DMark2001 12,000 right out of the box without any overclocking.

I had my MSI TI-4600 for 2 days when it quit working, I should'nt have bought a refurbished card but I was trying to save a few $. Anyway Comp Geeks will be giving me IHC for it, an I'm going to spend the extra $ an buy a new card, I wanted to buy a 9500 Pro, but they don't carry it, so it looks like the 9600 Pro.

comp geeks refurb =sh!t I had to have my CC reverse charges they sent me garbaGE then said I screwed it up F them wankers shoulda listened to the Ati guys oh well you tried I just hope you have better luck getting your $ back in full
 
Im a big n00b when it comes to video cards. Im either going to get a 9500p or 9700np. Ive never overclocked anything before and dont want to mess a new video card. Keeping in mind I do not want to provide any additional cooling to the card, what are some safe overclocking speeds. They only cooling it will have is the stock cooling with a 300w power supply. And how would I overclock it, programs???
 
Video card overclocking is almost always done through 3rd pary programs like rivatuner or rage3d. As far as safe overclocks go, you pretty much have to determine that yourself by slowing increasing the speed of your GPU and Memory until graphical artifacts begin to appear. You should also test the card to make sure that the OC you have reached is stable for longer periods of time.
 
Ocing video cards is retarded if you ask me. The performance gain is minimal and voiding the warranty for it is not worth it. If you need a few fps more, just tweek the configs in games. Dont kill your warranty on a $200+ card.
