Ok, I have a Gateway Media Center PC with an X2 4200, 2 gigs of ram and a 300 gig hd. Its got integrated video right now. I am looking to add a vid card to pair with a Dell 19" monitor I have. SO I have narrowed my choices and so far I am looking at X1800XL, or X850XT PE, or X1800XT or the budget card 7600 GT. They also have X850's for under $200. Also, my PC has a 300 watt psu, would that be enough to push any of these and if not, are propriatary PSU's upgradeable?? Thx for all the help.

Get the 7900 GT - the EVGA can be had for $299 and is the best bang for the buck right now, I think

Going from onboard graphics to something like an X850 or 7600 is a massive step. You are doing this for gaming? In which case either of those will be sufficent (you won't miss eyecandy that you've never seen), if you're not planning on gaming and you just need the card for the connector you're spending way more than you need to.

My parents have the same machine but with a 6600GT (they don't game but I do when my computer is defragging or something). I would say the 7600GT or more likely the 7900GT would be the best. The 7900GT is simply a sweet card, and worth the extra money, especially in that nice of a system.

Well, I just bought this computer, I had a Athlon XP with a gig or RAM and a 6800 GS AGP that was pretty nice. I really only play FPS's like COD2 and BF2 so I dont want to buy a 7900, wanted to stay around $200 or so.

If you're trying to stay cheap, get the 7600GT or the x1800xt (if you can afford it). These cards will give you quite a bit for the price.

i recommend the x1800 series for gamers, x1600 or lower for just internet browsing or dvd viewing or anything but fps gaming.
and no your psu is not enough, for any video card above the x1300, or 7300, i'd get a fortron, enermax or seasonic psu of the 450+ range

When you up your video card on these Gateways, a psu like a Fortron 450W is a good choice. Your graphic card specs may require a minimum, so don't limit yourself there.

My 7600GT lets me play just about everything with no problems. You may need more power however.

i'd take the xt over the gto, the x1800xt is the next best thing after the x1900xt... at least in image quality
