Which VGA cards supports 1440x900?

How do I know which cards are going to support wide screen resolutions? I need to pick out an inexpensive, hopefully low profile card for a tight MicroATX box that will support 1440x900 resolution but I am confused by the max resolution specs. I am not sure whether or not cards will adjust to widescreen... This machine will be used for surfing the net, word processing and viewing movies only..

Thanks 🙂

even a 6200 would be fine for you.

I bought a 6200, connected it to my monitor which is not a Wide Screen and intalled the drivers. I am not given the option of 1440 x 900, though. Will I have that option once I connect to the Wide Screen monitor that it is going to be paired with??

Did you install the latest drivers? Yeah you should have the 1440x900 option once you connect your new monitor.

Thanks.. what is happening is that I will be installing it in a different system tomorrow.. That is the system with the 19" WS.. I will be downloading and installing the latest drivers..

You can also clear the checkbox to 'hide modes this monitor cannot display', and 1440x900 should then be selectable (under Display/Settings/"Advanced..."). It should also show up if you connect it to a monitor that 'really' supports 1440x900.

Worst-case, you can use a program like PowerStrip to force it to the right resolution.
