Which Version of Win7 is the fastest for DC?

Ok.. I just went and got the MS Technet pro subscription.
And I'm seeing all the various iterations of win7. I'm just wondering and trying to figure out which version would probably be the quickest for DC.

as you can see from my sig.. I have a fleet of crunchers.

they have various versions for ultimate such as K, KN, N, and then i'm assuming the US version with no letter designation.

then there are
Windows 7 Enterprise
Windows 7 Enterprise K
Windows 7 Enterprise KN
Windows 7 Enterprise N
Windows 7 Home Basic
Windows 7 Home Premium
Windows 7 Home Premium K
Windows 7 Home Premium KN
Windows 7 Home Premium N
Windows 7 Language Pack
Windows 7 Professional
Windows 7 Professional K
Windows 7 Professional KN
Windows 7 Professional N
Windows 7 Starter
Windows 7 Starter K
Windows 7 Starter KN
Windows 7 Starter N
Windows 7 Ultimate
Windows 7 Ultimate K
Windows 7 Ultimate KN
Windows 7 Ultimate N
Windows 7 WAIK
Windows 7 WDK

so... anyone have any ideas?

All the versions share the same core win 7 so there shouldn't be any too big differences... The letters K and N indicate special "european" versions, N for instance means without media player and K I think without internet explorer.
Home basic is the "third-world" edition of 7. This probably doesn't interest you.

So you probably want the US "letter-less" versions. Now all depends on what you need (are you using these computers or are they just crunching?) Don't go with starter as this version only supports 3 open windows at a time as far as I recall. This can be a problem when running console DC apps.

So since all the versions are free:
a) You're using the computer besides DC:
Choose Ultimate as it gives you the most out of the box
b) You're not using the computer besides DC:
Choose Home Premium

I do believe i said i have a fleet of crunchers. hence the speed is necessary.. home basic or starter might be the best choice if it doesn't have alot of the other stuff.

Ideally, the smallest foot print would probably be best... imho.

running windows 7 is the best choice because of the access to various instruction sets for the ic that are utilized more often... i.e... sse4 etc etc..

Does running the 64 bit version crunch better than the 32 bit?

I'll be running 64bit since at least half of my systems have 4+ gigs of ram.. that way i don't need to figure out which system has 32bit and which has 64bit. it gets to be a pain when doing driver updates and such.

also, there are a few projects that crunch better on 64bit... I don't recall of any crunching better on 32bit.

I'll skip on both the basic and starter... it's only available in 32bit flavors.

theres a limitation on HP for how much ram you can have im pretty sure, so if any of those systems need more than 16?gb of memory address space make sure you use pro. im using pro 64bit on all 4 of my systems now, would be interested in seeing these results

yeah... you can't buy 8gig memory modules...

yet.. at least not from newegg
