Which version of Microsoft Windows XP professional?

Hello,

I have two computers at home one for me and the other for my gf. I want to get Win Xp Professional for both comps, but Im not sure if all I need is the single liscense copy or a multi liscense copy. These computers are purely for tooling around, this is not a business.

You should have two seperate licenses to be legit.

Will the single liscense work on both computers for the sake of argument? Will it work but I will not recieve updates?

You will likely be unable to activate the second computer, so no, it will not work.
