I just installed Win98 SE and it currently has 5.0 on it now. I'm wondering which one to upgrade to.

I also have 5.0. I just started installing 5.5, but then changed my mind. I read that it has banner advertisements in it and not much has been updated, except for dhtml, I think.

oops! the banner ads thing is misinformation I got.

I'm using IE5.5, but from what I've heard best to stick with 5.01 or is it 5.1?
Don't know where the banner ads comment comes from (there aren't any) least not on the version I'm using, and never heard that before.

IE5.5 has been flawless on both of my machines..runs noticeably faster on my NT4:SP6a desktop (k6-2/233 with 128) as well and I can confirm no banner ads anywhere (perhaps there's a confusion with MSN explorer?)

Go for IE5.01 with SP1.

I believe IE5.5 doesn't implement the favicon(favorites icon) feature.

Another vote for IE 5.01 SP1. Doing tech support all day I have seen more problems with IE 5.5 than any previous release of IE. And even with SP1 for IE 5.5 it still is buggy as hell.

Running Win2k and IE 5.5 (sp1) and its the B!tch.!! :D

The banner adverts you are referring to, is what you get with Opera verison 5.0.

I downloaded Opera 5.0 and its really crummy. Not for standards, but for working with M$
Pages :D heh.

The banner ad confusion probly has top do with the release of the free Opera 5.0 browser that has ads. Just my guess.
