Which ver. of VIA drivers should I download and install.

I have a DFI CA64 MB with ATA100 30GB Maxtor drive. Also ATI Radeon 32DDR video card and 256MB RAM. Also a 10x CDRW.

Sorry, as I read the posts I realized I left out one of the most important things. I am running 98SE

Thanks

It may depend on what OS you are using. With Win2k I have to recommend the 4.29's. With ME the 4.27 and up. With 98 the 4.24 and up seem the same to me. Some board have ATAPI issues with the 4in1's. You may want to uninstall that component if you have problems.

I tried the .29 with WinME and all I can say is thank goodness for the system restore feature!

Since you have a burner in that system, grab the 4.29's. Anything less and the busmaster driver might cause problems (making your components read as SCSI).

I installed the via4.29final 4in1's on my duron 600@1050+asus a7v rev1.2 and noticed literally no increase in win2k HD speed in hdtach or sisoft's disk performance benchmarking. I applied the M$ ata100 hotfix after doing the 4in1 update. Note that I am running an IBM DTLA 45 ata100 7200rpm drive on the ata100 channel :/

Nothing, nada, zip, zilch, zero increase in performance. Oh well :/
