I was looking at Ewiz and notice they have two different OEM 3000+ Venice's. The price difference isn't much but I want to make sure I get the right one for me.

http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?name=A64-3000BW - $119.95 - I hear this is the new E6 revision and they aren't clocking as high.

http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?name=A64-3000BP - $126.69 - What's this?

What I'd like to know is, is the 3000BP better known for higher overclocks? I'm aiming for atleast 2.5 ghz.

It's a mixed bag. The BP is the original venice (as far as I know). I got one of these from ewiz about a month ago and it runs at 2700-2800 with 1.5v. Other people got the exact same thing I did and can only get 2400-2500.

Same with the newer revision - I've seen some people with duds and saw one guy on another forum get 2800 with 1.4v.

If I had to buy again, I'd go for the newer one. It may have more fixes with the memory controller which is sort of bugged on my processor (doesn't like to run at anything other than 1:1 memory ratio).

Edit: and I think you should get around 2.5ghz on any venice 3000+ :) But of course this also depends on your motherboard/ram.

Are there any motherboard besides the DFI Lanparty boards that give more than 2.9v on the memory?

OCZ sells a memory voltage booster IIRC if you want to run anotherboard.

For the price of that and a motherboard I might as well just get a DFI LanParty. I want to avoid spending that much if I can. I don't really need or want SLI and all.

I really want to avoid that board at all costs becuase of the lack of a serial port, which I need.

the abit board gives the same vdimm options as the dfi, the epox board board has vdimm to 3.1 volts
