Anubis

i shoot nikon

so ive pretty much boiled it down to either the Tokina 11-16 or the Sigma 8-16

both have their pluses and minuses but i cant fucking decide. price is similar enough to be a non factor

anyone out there have either of these care to comment. im tired of reading DPR and the like about them.

I have a tokina 11-16. It's heavy and large, but I love it, because it allows me to take pictures like this handheld.

And this is with an XSi, which is not the best in low light. No way could I have taken such a (reasonably) sharp picture with my sigma 10-20.

I like the colors better from my tokina than what I used to get with my sigma 10-20. And the tokina is tack sharp from the factory, while the sigma I had to send in twice to get it adjusted. Not knocking on sigma as I love my 50mm 1.4

no canon 10-22mm? edit: and yeah, i'd probably go w/ the tokina 😛 (however that 8mm sure is tempting...)

I've read good things about the Tokina. The Sigma 10-20 is cheaper and also well-reviewed.

I just bought the Rokinon/Samyang 14mm f/2.8 prime. Got it for ~$360 with coupon. It's actually sharper than any of the mentioned lenses:

If you're OK with its other features (manual focus, fixed focal length, bulbous front element, and mustache distortion (correctable)), I think it's a great deal. Takes sharp, contrasty photos at f/5.6.

yea sigmas QC kinda scares me lately

i want the Tokina 11-16. Nothing but good reviews. 650 and the possibility of it going higher. Ugggh where's the extra cash flow?!?!

i really hate shipping companies that refuse to leave packages at my door. and get mad at me when im not home at 11am on a work day :/

I ordered the Tokina. Itll be here this weekend. (should have been today! GRRRRRRRRRRRR) every review ive read has it at least equal if not better then the nikon, and its cheaper

I was really liking the sigma but their QC has gone downhill, i never had an issue with my current sigma lenses but i don't have time to deal with sending one or more back. Want it for a trip im taking in less then 2 weeks

9 blades also does great stuff for long exposures at night
