The Rio has a 4x100 bolt pattern. I'm getting the impression that pretty much any 175/65/14 rim should fit decently, these are just for a few months in winter.

I now have 3 options of tires to choose from:

Wintermark Magna tires/rims for $250 (80% tread)
Wintermark Magna tires/rims for $180 ( 90% tread) (tires not installed on rims)
Michelin X-Ice tires/rims for $250 (70% tread) (not sure if tires are installed on rims)

the michelin X-Ice are rated much better for winter driving than the Wintermark, but the wintermarks are not bad either. Though any of these tires should be a huge improvement over summer/all season tires.

What do you think? Driving around Toronto most of the time.

Thanks!

P.S. Here is the consumers report order of best to worst winter tire:

Michelin X-Ice <---
Viking SnowTech
Goodyear Ultra Grip Ice
Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50
Mastercraft Glacier Grip II
Gislaved Nordfrost 3
Nokian Hakkapelitta 2
Cooper Weather-Master S/T 2
Kelly Wintermark Magna Grip HT <---
Nokian Hakkapeliitta RSI
Hankook W404
Dayton Winterforce

This would interest me, GF has an '06 Rio LX Sedan 5spd, and it has 14" steelies. If I could get some used 15" rims and tires, it would be very cool. It's not quite worth spending hundreds of dollars for a new set, but I'd pay $100-$200 for a used set with respectable tires.

Turns out they have been sold, too bad that was a good deal so no wonder. I found another set of winter tires and rims for $290 from a Toyota Echo, I wonder if that will fit. At 80% tread is that still worth it? A new set with rims is at least $400+

Darn Kia manual doesn't have the offset listed :(
Nor does the website :(

From alloywheels.com

PCD: 4x100
Offset: 35 to 45
Bore: 54.1
Fittings : N 12x1.5

The original offset is probably about +40 (alloywheels.com recommends you stay within 5mm of the original offset). Best to check with a dealer though, if you can find wheels with the same offset it would be best. Altering the offset changes the suspension geometry and loading.

Went with the Michelin X-Ice for $250 when I found out that they were installed on the rims. figured they are safer and had less hassle cause they were already installed. Haven't tried to put them on yet but the guy said he had no problem me returning them if they didn't fit for some reason.
