which type of RAM to add?

hi everybody!

I've got a 2-year old Dell 8400 system with 1 gig of pre-installed RAM, I'd like to upgrade to 2 gigs. What I need are 533 MHz DDR2 module(s) that are compatible with this system. Now, there are tons of manufacturers out there that make these chips and I really don't know which one to choose. I don't want to install low quality stuff, on the other hand I'm not going to overclock (would it be possible LOL). So, which modules shall I add? Thanks a bunch!

Green Man's got it right, you can't go wrong with crucial. Excellent quality memory and decent prices too. 🙂

Also, check how many RAM slots you have on that mobo if you want to try to add 2x512MB. That said, I suggest selling off the current ram and just buying 2x1024MB modules to ensure compatibility.
