I just jumped the gun and purchased the new VPN100 1TB model from Viper by Patriot on Newegg. After going back and looking over datasheet and a couple websites I couldn't find out which NAND type they're using.

Intel has 1TB QLC NAND for ~$100 USD.
Samsung has 1TB TLC NAND for ~$250 USD for 970 Evo plus and ~$350 USD for 970 Pro.

At $190 incl. tax, I'd hope I didn't just buy QLC NAND. Hoping I at least got Toshiba TLC.

Haven't received it yet, should be here by the 11th or 12th.

Also I just seen that GamersNexus did a video saying that heatsinks can actually have negative impact on the NAND lifespan. Should I return this and purchase the Corsair MP510 960GB with known TLC flash? It's also running the Phison e-12 and only $150 USD.

If you are curious about it and the manufacturer doesn't say it directly, search for reviews of it.

It is indeed TLC. I kinda guessed based on high sequential write and the price you were quoting. Patriot is probably able to just sell it really cheap. Also NAND prices have dropped a lot recently.

I can't tell you much about the heatsink. If you are really worried I guess return it when you can? JEDEC numbers are based on when the NAND flash has reached end of its lifespan. The 1TB is rated at 1665TB.

I'd guess the chance of you reaching even 50% of that number is very unlikely, so maybe you shouldn't be worried about degradation.
