Which TV tuner card should I get? (Leadtek TV2000XP/EXPERT or Compro VideoMate TV Gold Plus)

Leadtek has the 10-bit Conexant ADC, the Compro has a 9-bit Philips ADC. I'm not completely up on Compro's cards, but I hear good things about the Leadtek around here.

Will 512 ram be though for video capture?
I hear they put a load on your pc, would extra ram help, or is is just going to use the cpu?

I have 512mb now, do I need more ram?

I have the Leadtek and I'm completely satisfied with it. 512 will be just fine for capturing and multitasking

I have the Leadtek, and I know that there is an issue with the sound cutting out on them. Mine just did.

But I'm going to buy another one anyways :D

I fully support the Leadtek's tuners. I have a Winfast 2000 deluxe I bought from newegg.com for under $50 after shipping which isn't just a TV tuner but an FM Tuner as well. I had a few problems while setting the card up but this was due to my mobo's poor case alignment, not the card itself. Also with my SBLive Value card, the default recording input was microphone not line in which is needed for video capture with audio. While you could change the option and it recorded fine, the settings were always set to default after every log on/off or restart. Which didn't stop me from recording how I wanted, but was definitely an annoyance. Now I have a different mobo (MSI) and it's onboard audio drivers seem to always keep the recording/playback settings which completely fixes that problem. 256 mb PC133, 1800+ and Geforce2 Ti was quite sufficient to capture any format and playback, although trying to watch something while recording it at the same time seems to be choppy, playing back just the recorded file is fine. Be very sure you have plenty of hard drive space or DVD burner or both as these files do take up a whole lot of space. My 100 gig was filled very quickly after I bought this card. Fortunately I haven't needed tech support from them but supposedly Leadtek is very quick and accurate at fixing tech support issues. The software bundle was also pretty good. I got full versions of DVD movie factory, Cool 3D and another video editing app. Their drivers and software are pretty stable w/only a couple of crashes at first and none since after about 6 months of having this card. Watch for 1 day sales at newegg, I have seen them frequently for this product. Good luck with whatever you pick.
