Which to get, E6700 or E6600?

Seems like the E6600 makes more sense. If so, how high should I be able to O/C it with retail HSF?

Is the P5N32-E SLI Plus overkill?

Thanks

E6600 is perfect for OC (E4300 is better). And the retail HSF is pretty good. I OC E4300 from 1.8 to 3.0Ghz @ FSB333 with Asus P5B-Deluxe. And with retail HSF goes up to 60C max.

I don't know about the mobo.... sorry

there has been a lot of discussion about the p5n32-e sli plus (and non-plus) vs. the p5n-e.

according to most sites, the performance of these boards are almost identical, the only difference are a few more ports on the p5n32-e plus/non-plus models and the ability to run 2 x 16 pci-e.

unless you are gaming at resolutions greater than 1600x1200 with all eye candy turned on, the p5n-e is the way to go or unless you just want the extra features and benefits of the p5n32-e sli plus/non-plus

Peak overclocks with stock cooling are hard to say since no one tends to post those results. Max o/c on high end air with the 6600's is about 3.6 and average about 3.2 to 3.4...depending on the batch. The only advantage to the 6700 is that the core multi is unlocked, but this isn't very important since FSB is nto an issue with the 6600 and its 9x multi.

No not pretty standard.
3.6 is at the upper end clocks for air.
Most of the newer stepping 6600's have been averaging 3.2-3.3.

agreed again. It took water to keep mine orthos stable at 3636.

i can push her to 3.750 at 1.6V. but anything higher then that i wouldnt recomend even if your on water without a tripple radiator.

And i think that guy who was talkina bout the unlocked 6700 was thinkn QX. The quad sister of the X6800.
