Price for me is not an issue because I can get both sets at about the same cost.... so in terms of pure sound quality in games, music and DVD movies which is better?

I do not like either of these speakers because of their lack of seperate tweeter/midrange designs. I would take a look at the Klipsch 5.1 system. If not, I reccomend the Logitechs over the Creatives anyday...

I'd take the logitech.

But, if these aren't your only options...what's your budget?

Ordering online is not an option for me... I don't have a credit card I'm only 19 =Þ So my only option is to buy from local retailers... and after looking around these two are the best sets available in my area... so basically my choice boils down between the 5300 and the Z-640. so which between the two would you recommend?

ok i have another question since the general consensus here is to get the Z-640's... currently i am using my stereo as my PC speakers... would i get better sound from them as compared to the Z-640's? take note the stereo only has two speakers and no sub... so no surround sound... but it's speakers are your typical stereo speakers... you know a box sort of thing with several drivers in them... i'm guessing they would probably sound better with music and all other 2-channel stuff... but i'm not really sure... so what do you think???

It depends on your, realistic, useage of the speakers. Theres no point in paying for extra "power" if your not going to use it.

General rule of thumb.

Medium/Big room
bit RMS rating needed.

Small room
smaller RMS rating.

Loud usage
big RMS rating

quiet/normal usage
smaller RMS rating.

Also, look at reviews of the speakers. Search google or somthing for reviews.
I have the 5300`s and find them very good for gaming/DVDS/Music/Other Stuff.
I have the volume at about 60% in a small/medium sized room, and the quality is great.

If your buying them from a local retailer, then ask if you can try them out, to see what they`re like for YOU.
