Which to choose Radeon R9270, Radeon 270X or GTX 660

Hi Guys,

I am buying new GPU and have questions regarding

Which GPU to choose amongst these Radeon R9270, Radeon 270X or GTX 660.

budget constriants!!

I recently went through the same dilemma for a new living room gaming HTPC. Since the radeon R9 270x is just a rebranded 7870, which competes very well against the GTX660. I tried a 7870 in the machine first, but I had an HDMI issue with it so I returned it and got a GTX660 Superclocked and I could not be happier.

Looking around on newegg I see a GTX660 superclocked has a $20 rebate with free 2 day shipping, and I do not see any R9 270X cards that are in stock that are that cheap.

Even the R9 270 cards they have in stock will just be slightly more expensive, but you could always overclock a regular 270 to 270x speeds easily.

you could use the anandtech benchmarks for the 3 cards and go with whichever performs best for your applications. They are very alike tho.

Anandtech bench still not bench marked the R series cards .

I guess I'll go with the GTX 660, its used 6 months old for 62-63 USD$

Yeah, for $63 its a pretty amazing deal.

If you can get a GTX 660 for $63, why even bother asking the question? At that price, it's a steal! It may not be as fast as a 270X, but for less than 1/3 the cost, there is definitely not a better option than the GTX 660.

I may as well admit that I was mere seconds away from posting how you should absolutely avoid the R9 270, after I misread it as a Radeon 9200 series from the early 00s.

I too, would like to know if there are any more. I just paid $189 for the one in my new HTPC build, but at that price I would buy another just as a spare.
