Which to buy?

Hi I have a question on what to buy.

Current hard drive: 12.7gb 7200RPM
Current Video Card: Geforce 3

My question is, What do I need more? A better hard drive or a better video card.
The video card I am thinking of getting is the MSI FX5600-VTDR128 (Geforce FX 5600). The hard drive I am thinking of getting is the Western Digital 'Raptor'. Which would help me more for overall performance in games?

Thanks for any suggestions and help.

First, welcome to the forums. Second, what are your system specs? If you're getting low framerates and stuttering in games, then upgrade the video card, a better buy than that FX 5600 would be an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro, IMHO. If levels load slowly, then go for the Raptor. The gaming upgrade would probably be the video card, but the better overall upgrade if you do less gaming would be the Raptor (Windows will load considerably faster, and disk access will be MUCH faster).

A newer Vid card will prob. help more in games seeing as you have 1 GB of memory your prob. not hitting the swap file much, but if you could I'd suggest upgrading to a cheap Ti4200 and getting an 80GB WD SE drive, that would cost only a little more than the raptor and it would improve your performance alot more than just getting a HDD or just a Vid card. Hope this helps... 🙂

12.7 GB??? a video card is no good if you dont have room to install games 🙂

get a HDD
1GB RAM, P4 2.4...yeah, you need an 80GB minimum. Until HL2 and Doom 3 come out, that GF3 should be fine (and maybe even then)
