I am having a very hard time deciding between these 2 cameras. The Panasonic is a bit cheaper, and has better specs on paper. While the Canon, however, has a bunch of "artsy" features (color swap, etc.) which the Panasonic doesn't. Anyone have experience with either of these, and are able to make a suggestion? Thanks!

I read that canon cameras do not function like regular flash cards when connected to computers (read: you have to use their software to get the pictures off the camera). Is this true? Any workarounds?

I don't know about the newer models but my canon SD-110 detects as a camera when I plug it in. When I open it it connects and I can drag and drop the files off of it like a normal drive. It's not exactly the same as a removable drive but it's pretty close. I've never used thier software except for printing pictures. Out of curiosity why the 750 and not the 850 IS?

To be honest, I only said the 750 because I have played around with one at work. By all means, make any suggestions you guys see fit...I'm open to new ideas here :p

I'm no expert and I haven't used any of these cameras myself but I have been staring at camera reviews for about a week now so here's my 2 cents:

The Canon 850 IS is probably the best tiny camera that's out right now. The Panasonic Lumix TZ3 is small and has a 10x zoom but the pictures aren't quite as good. I've read that the fuji f31fd has really good image quality but only a 3x zoom, uses xD cards and and is a little larger than I'd like. I've also heard a lot of good things about the Kodak Z712 but again it was too large for my purposes. I just bought the Canon A710 which isn't quite as small as the SD-850 but uses AA batteries and has a larger zoom(6x).

Well, I do like the size of the SD Series, and I'd prefer a perm. battery rather than AAs. That, and it is only a little bit cheaper than the 750. Maybe I'll look deeper into it tomorrow, and hopefully make a decision!
