Which To Buy: Gainward Ti4600 Ultra or ATI Radeon 9500 Pro?

I never shared much interested in ATI's line of cards, but I'm in the market for a new video card. I have come down to these two choices... Gainward Ti4600 and the ATI Radeon 9500 Pro. I will also be taking advantage of the video card's TV-Out (out to my new HDTV monitor/television) and Dual Display (using one DVI and one CRT monitor). I am not a hardcore gamer, I play games occassionally, so if whether performs better by a few FPS won't matter to me. The price of both cards are close to $200, so it's really not a finanical decision here...

I would like any input. Thanks! :D

I'm far from an expert when it comes to these two cards, but from what I've read, I would say the 9500 Pro. Performance wise they are pretty similar, but once you enable AA/AF the 9500 Pro starts to pull away. The 9500 Pro will probably give you better TV out as well, and also supports dx9, unlike the Ti4600.

9500 beats the 9700 pro, WTH?

look at this

btw, the 4600 is the clear winner in non directx9, with no af or FSAA

but the 9500 ownz it in just about everything else

I think the graph is mislabeled. Maybe it's supposed to say ATI Radeon 9700 Pro (Final)... I dunno, just an assumption.

But thanks for the input guys. I'm going to go with the ATI Radeon 9500 Pro. :D

Get the 9600Pro, it might not be as good as the 9500 but since your not a hardcore gamer it will suit your needs, and it won't need another PSU connection.

Sounds good to me! :D

The graph is correct, 9500pro came out with a revision.

Happy gaming! I think you'll like that card, I know I would. :)

Another PSU Plug won't be a problem... I'm using an Antec True550watt PSU. ;)

ATI Radeon 9500 Pro, it is.

We kept the Radeon 9700 Pro drivers the same and used the new drivers for the Radeon 9500 Pro to illustrate a point in this benchmark. The new drivers clearly are the cause for the massive 20% increase in performance in UT2003

It's odd that the reviewer would use different drivers in a comparison like this. There's no way the 9500 Pro beats the 9700 series. It's still a great card, though.
