Hey all. Im trying to determine which card to go with. Logic seems to point to the 256MB Ultra but I know that isnt always the case where the more MB's the better the performance. Which one is going to give the best fill rate, fps, performance? Price is not an issue as its just $16 difference. Thanks for the help!

I would say the 128, there's not much benefit to the 256...And, I know I may be bashed for it, but I must recommend that you look at ATI's solutions (9600pro, 9700) as well.

Quick reply NY..lol Thx. Yea I compared 2 different brands of the 256 vs 128 Ultra's specs (FX) and the 128 had better performance specs it seemed. Gainward's sight doesnt give great feedback and specs on both cards so I cant compare side by side.

As far as the ATI card... I know they are very popular now. I have looked at them but I have to tell you.... EVERY ATI card I have ever dealt with has been nothing but a pain in the *#@ on getting the drivers loaded for it. I have never had a problem with Nvidia stuff. You may as well format your computer if you want to put in a ATI card after Nvidia stuff. Whereas w\ Nvidia, it's always worked flawlessly. Remove the ATI thru control panel, put the Nvid in, point it to the driver and a reboot and she's rolling. They may be good cards now and have that problem fixed but Im gun shy. And the last 1 I bought I swore i'd never buy another.lol If I did and it gave the same problems like the others..... I'd spontaneously combust this time I think.lofl

Appreciate the advice. It's always welcomed.

Hmm, well it seems as I was answering more beat me to the draw.lol Maybe drop down to a 5200 Ultra in another brand? Is it the manufacturer of the card that makes it a bad deal Rollo or the FX5600 itself? What do you suggest? A Ti Series? I really dont want to go ATI. All recommendations are welcome.

The FX5600 Ultra just generally isn't as fast as other cards in the same price range (9600 Pro). If you are into gaming, stay away from the 5200/Ultra, I guess a Ti would be OK, but really ATI is ahead in this class.

Best value for Nvidia
