motherboard monitor is showing my power supply as have 2 minus rails that are almost at 0 in the reading but i am getting no shutdowns or anything while the hardware monitor from abit for my motherboard is telling me everything is fine. how can motherboard monitor be so far off? which one do i believe? i have a Nforce 2 motherboard with a barton 333 FSB chip coming and want to make sure i have a good enough power supply to run it as i plan on overclocking. my curent power supply is an antec PP-412X power supply. thank you

Check your BIOS. it should have the readings in there. I'd go with whichever reading matches or is closest to what the BIOS says.

neither. they're both wrong. ABIT is notorious for being massivley off with their temperature monitors.

Massively off by which way? My XP2400 shows 41C which I am not sure I believe. When all else is in doubt I use the feel test. All I know for certain is that the cpu and socket are only slightly warmer than the rest of the innards.

the minus rails (-5V and -12V) are no longer used in modern systems, so it doesn't matter what voltage they are. ;)

I recently built a system for a customer using IC7-MAX 3 and he was very on happy with his Monitered heat differance's sense i use the same board I showed him mine and he really was not happy at all with his it did show 7c differance so I replaced the board for him I only want happy custormers and on the new board everything showed up perfectly on, but the strange thing is I thought that his temps were high on his old board 58c at idle the new board shows temp at 39.5c at idle the same as mine I should also note that that I install sunflower heat sinks on customers pc's unless they want something better watercooling or Mach2 system also I noticed on his old card the onboard sound made noise harddrive scrolling new board not a problem same as mine perfect I have built 38 systems with this board and this is the only 1 that gave me problems Abit credited my account no problems at all and my customer bragged to all his friends about his 2 hour service call that paid off big for me he sold 7 more pc's for me I can honestly say good service pays big dividens so if you have a motherboard that isn't showing equal temps or high temps and a sound system that makes noise's hard drive scrolling ect.ect. ect. return it to Abit they know a happy customer is a good customer ok enough with the commericals
