Funny how you guys vote for the tire with the HIGHER treadwear rating. That is something I absolutely avoid. My current street tires are 280, and the tires on the car right now (using them for the autocross this weekend) are 200 treadwear rating.
Hankook isn't a bad company, I was skeptical at first too, but they have a real good street class tire just released. The Hankook Z212 RS2s supurb grip for a street tire. The Korean companies aren't bad. Kumho has come a long way, and I think they're a good company. I can't comment on the Hankooks you listed here though.
Falkens aren't bad either, I currently use the
Falken Azenis as my dedicated Autocross tire, but they're in a whole different league than the Ziex 512s.
I was actually debating wether or not to get the Azenis or the RS2s as my autocross tire, but the Azenis were cheaper and I got those instead.
I probably would have voted for the Falkens myself

. They're perfectly fine tires for everyday use. Unless you're pushing them to the extremes, they will do a good job.
On a somewhat related note, my mother just got a new set of of Ziex 512s as well. They aren't installed yet, but they look nice.
Why did you order only 3? And yes, they're made in Japan because Falken is a Japanese company

.
EDIT: That consumer reports magazine is full of crap. I can list many many better tires than the Ziex512s. The 512s are a very good tire for the price, but by no means, the "best tire" or whatever they rated it as.
