I'm looking for a good thrid party HS for my Opty rig (look in sig). I did some searchs (yes I actually used that hidden button ;) ), and I am split between a few.

SI-120
XP-120
Ninja
Big Typhoon

Those are the ones that I was looking at. Feel free to suggest another, but I think the ones that I listed are the best.

Thanks :p

EDIT: Added Poll, I'll add more if you suggest anything not in my list.

I like the Ninja's performance, but man, it's heavy. Perhaps the SI-120 would be better? I'm thinking of getting the Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro for my Opteron 148, which I'm hoping to overclock.

Depends on your case. The Scythe Ninja is the best heatsink performance wise out of the four but if you don't have a wide case, then you may be better off with say the XP-120. Second best would be SI-120 performance wise and would probably be the best overall choice (light, not too tall, and large surface area) not to mention it would help cool other components such as RAM and your mobo with the large 120mm fan . . .

Get yourself an Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro... As good as the Big Typhoon and the Zalmans, but it costs waaay less...

there were a lot of tests done, and in almost all fair cases, the big typhoon won. i would definetly get it. if you want extreme performance, just get a 3rd party fan with higher cfm (even though the stock one is 51 cfm, i think).

Well based on suggestions here, and from freinds, I have decided on the SI-120+Sunbeam 5-1/4" Rheobus Kit+Panaflo 120mm U1A - FBA12G12U1A uber fast fan!

The uber fast fan may be loud, but thats what a fan controller is for :p

Thanks for the help. Plus I really don't mind loud fans. I have 6x80mm ones and they have go to be 45+dba (i think).

None. Zalman CNPS9500, it performs better/equally to every heatsink you named. BUT, some huge differences are: it blows hot air out to the exhaust fan, it cools the ram VERY good, it is light, it looks GREAT!

Well kind of late to get the Zalman. I heard both the SI-120 and the Big Typhoon cool better than the Zalman. But thats just what I've heard.

I already placed an order for a SI-120 and a uber fast fan and a fan controller. I ordered it early today and it got shipped. Should be here by monday.
