I'm gonna go with the SI-120, because the larger fan makes for less noise and better cooling for adjacent mobo components. Make sure if it fits though.

on another thread didn`t you rule out several heatsinks including the XP120 and the XP90 as well as the ninja and the Big Typhoon??
The SI 120 is a little larger but thinner than the XP120!!

If i were to buy a heatpipe HS right now,the SI-120 would be the buy.

Make sure it will fit first. Thermalright has to have it's measurments at thier site.

If you do look at the application chart for the SI-120 it will be seen that it fits any current chip
and is lighter than the XP-90c. Plus the 120 has that wide wing span for mounting a 120mm fan to the advantage of cooling the rest of the mainboard. IIRC you pick nits real hard. Do some research for test results and application on line there is alot out there. I read quite a bit on the SI-120 and that's why it will be my buy in a month for an Intel P4 2.8. When i up-grade to an AMD the SI-120 will have another new home.

The SI-120 should be compatible with every socket and board out there.

Aside from price the only downside to the SI-120 (XP-120, Ninja as well) is the lack of good quiet/low speed 120mm fans.

I prefer to get my fans from actual manufactures, Adda, Panafo, NMB, ect. In that category there isn't much present.

Mouser.com carries the full catalog of ADDA fans. The ADDAs with the HyPro bearings are VG, I do not recall if they can be had in 120mm. I will investigate when the time comes to buy. They have a green label. Four 80mm and two 92mm ADDA HyPros are in use here as i type. No bargains will be found at Mouse, just good product.

Yate Loon 120mm are posted over at Hot Deals Forum, 5 shipped @ $25. I might get some at that price.

For quiet fan operation, one can take panaflo M1A 120mm fans and 7v them for a good noise to airflow ratio.

Yeah, I've browsed the Adda's @ Mouser. I just wish it was easier to find fans when you don't know exactly what you?re looking for (browsing through hundreds of fans takes awhile), the price is also a bit steep.

Having said that if I were to go with a SI-120 it would most likely be paired with a Adda. I'd really like to get some of the 120mm's that are used in the Seasonic S12, and should worth great with a SI-120 or XP-120.

That wouldn't cut it for me. Even the 120mm L1A's are only acceptable at 5v.

I am wondering of the possibility of usind an ultra quiet Acousti 120mm D P any thoughts....yes/No

Waste of money.

If you don't mind the price pick up a Adda from Mouser.

if you read duvies review of the PD, he had a big typhoon on there, and the chip was still crazy hot. you are going to need the highest performing air cooling possible, like the typhoon. also, lots of case fans.

Personally I would get the $28 XP-90 as it is much cheaper and performs just as well as a XP-90c.

The Si 120 out performs the XP90....

There is no board compatability list becuase there are no boards it is not compatable with!!

Also you might look at the Coolermaster 120mm those are good solid fans and quiet even at max rpms!!

The chip is crazy hot but not more so than the chip i have on my computer....the Si 120 will work fine....

Also the Big Typhoon is NOT all that.....
The Ninja and The Si 120 are better heatsink...as are a few others that are just as good as the Big Typhoon!!

also in this thread it it has not been about money....

some people always think that way its cheaper so I`m going with that one...
others they want what they want ...money obviously isn`t an issue...
most likely becuase they don`t live with there parents...lol

Well, if you want the best aircooled, then go witht the Zalman 9500 for $73. Personally, I'll take the best price/performance.

I have one of those also...in fact I just installed it before re-checking my temps compared to the XP120.... :)
