This is my first time to put a computer together I have everything I need execpt thermal compiund. And I was wondering which I should get, I have an amd xp 2600+ and a thermaltake volcano 9. Which thermal compound is best, and is the ceramique by artic silver any good? Saw that and wondered if it was any good. Given the realatively low prices it doesn't really matter about cost, but I was wondering if maybe they are application specific.

Why does it matter when you have a terrible hsf? The V9 has terrible performance vs noise ratio. Cooling is more about the hsf than the thermal paste.

if i were to choose, i would go with the ceramique since its non conductive (just incase maybe it leaks off the side once ur hs is on or something)

When applied per the instructions on the AS web site, AS3 doesn't wander. IAC it has low conductivity but not approximating 0. I used AS3 on my big Speeze and my OC'd Duron stays at 20degC.
.bh.
