And to answer your question: No, I am not day drinking.
But I will be night drinking and I need stuff.

If you are mixing it with orange juice I wouldn't worry about buying a quality tequila. I would only buy a quality tequila if I was drinking it straight or only cutting it with minimal mixers.

This.

Go buy some jose cuervo shit.

It's bottom of the barrel, but still qualtiy enough to not taste like ass and make you wonder "wtf did I just drink?"

Too good, a reposado or anejo would be a waste. A tequila sunrise is a sweet drink for people who don't drink, the cheapest blanco requila you can find is more than good enough.

You at least want 100% agave. And 1800 Reposado is not top shelf...

Why? In a tequila sunrise nobody is going to be able to tell the difference between 100% agave and a cheap mixto. It is the height of clueless pretense to order top shelf liquors when you're making kiddie drinks with them.

Wish I could find a video from Three's Company. Mr Furley ordered a scotch with root beer, maraschino cherries and whipped cream and insisted that the scotch had to be 12-years old because a real scotch man wouldn't settle for anything less.

Don Patron in a tequila sunrise = the drinker is an idiot.
Woodford Reserve and coke = the drinker is an idiot.
Dom Perignon in a mimosa = the drinker is an idiot.
200 year old Napoleon brandy in a brandy Alexander = the drinker is an idiot.

You might as well order dry-aged Waygu ribeye and a bottle of A1 to go with it.

Avoid the mixto crap with food coloring in it! 100% Agave only adds on about $5/bottle.
It can be called tequila if its 51% Agave and 49% grain alcohol - Cuervo Gold fits this.

Cuervo Tradicional, Hornitos, Milagro, 1800, Gran Centanrio are all great and under $20/bottle.

Blanco or Silver - clear tequila that is unaged goes best in blended drinks.

Don't forget the Grand Marnier or other Orange liquer for the floater.
