Which temp to trust? Beta Speedfan or CoreTemp 0.96?

Let me say I'm going to be ticked if my Speedfan temps are 15C too low; because I got the Thermalright Ultra 120 (non Extreme) cooler; have a 120mm fan on it, that is blowing right towards the back fan which is blowing out, and have the Coolermaster 690 case.

Getting max temp of
57 with CoreTemp
43 with Speedfan
43 with abit EQ

I sure hope it's 43C.

Which version of SpeedFan are you using?. If it's v4.33, be ticked (sorry!). Get v4.34 beta 37. The temps should correspond to those in CoreTemp v0.95.

I'm running the beta 37!
I'll try coretemp v0.95. 0.96 is 15c higher than Beta37. Thanks for the quick reply!!!
My OC is at 66C with only ~1.3v CPU-z and that can't be right.

Hmm, strange. I use SP v4.34 b 37, CoreTemp 0.95, both of which correspond, and Intel's TAT (which errs high by up to 3-4 C).

Can't say I know anything about Semperons and their thermal qualities. My e4300 running at 3GHz (with Vcore of 1.424 idle and 1.392 max load with Orthos) peaks brieflty at 66 C. But at idle now it's at 35 C.

Hope you get it sorted - it's not nice having conflicting info, especially when your CPU is at stake!

You know, there's no way CT is reporting this right. I took some time to look at the temps in the Bios. Idled 33C @ stock voltage/fsb/mult; with mult at 10; so total speed at 2Ghz. Jump into Windows and fire up CT, and the temps are 5c higher at ~38c when the multiplier is 6*200 = 1.2Ghz!

There's no possible way it's reporting that right. Abit EQ and Speedfan agree that the temps are ~23c when idling at mult=6 (my room is a little chilly right now). That makes me feel better.

hi soccerballtux,
you will find that core temp gives you t/junction temps and speedfan/abit give you the tcase temps, i have both on mine(core temp0.95) and speed fan always reports t/case of -15c of the t/juntcion temp.

tbh they are reading right though just a thought are they idle temps?

CoreTemp is correct. You just don't have your heatsink mounted properly. Those Thermalright's are a bitch to mount, and take some time to get mounted properly.
