Nothing will ever be more embarrassing than being 18-0, favored by 2 TDS, and then losing to a wildcard seed in the Super Bowl.
Come on now. I know you aren't dumb enough to really think this is true. We get it. You don't like the Pats. But making stupid statements like this just makes you look like even more of a hater than you already are.

I can think of a handful of plays off the top of my head that are far more embarrassing than an 18-0 team not going 19-0.

I don't even have any dog in the fight in the AFC but the hate the Patriots get is so petty from people who just can't stand the fact the run they went on over the past 2 decades.

You and I have discussed this for over a decade now. I’m just using Pats Fan Logic (tm) to ascribe the same level of blame to Brady that Manning got. I promise you that if the Colts were in the Pats shoes in SB42 and lost, Pats fans would blame Manning for singlehandedly losing the SB - like they did in SB44, when Wayne slipped and Tracy Porter got the game winning INT. Of course that Colts team wasn’t 18-0 and being touted as the best team ever either.
That "logic" is pushed by sports media and it goes beyond any particular QB, if it helped ratings the "Brady vs Manning" or 'Manning vs Rodgers" or what have you was pumped pre-game like mad. QB play is of importance of course, but there are uncounted ways to win or lose a particular game.

Or it could be, the hate for the Pats comes from how many of the wins they have had...came from spying..cheating or deflating ? Actually, my stance is this. I have no problems with the Patriots. Only Brady being babied by the NFL and refs...and basically everything Belichick does. At least for me.

The Saints really need a score here.

"Babied"?, Brady got ZERO roughing the passer calls this year.

This year ? How about the last 19 ? And yes...babied. Do your research on QB's and roughing the passer calls. Then tell me Brady isnt leading by a large margin.

How quickly we forget the stakes, the media hype, and the smack talk from that time. The team was being touted as the greatest team ever. I believe the Boston newspapers even printed the 19-0 PERFECT SEASON! editions. Brady shot off his mouth in response to Burress. Super Bowl 42 was a monumental and embarrassing loss which ranks at the top of the most embarrassing losses in history. We're not talking about a "handful of plays" here - we're discussing a place in the record books and about a game which the Pats and their fans chalked up as a win before the game was even played. Their loss to the Giants a few years later was bad, but not even in the same league as the SB 42 loss. NO ONE expected the Giants to win - not "experts," not me, not anyone here, and probably not even their fans. I had my brothers over to watch the game and was convinced it would be over at half time and we'd go play video games.

Pats fans are among the worst in the sport. Seriously, it used to be that after every game, you could go to the newspaper site of whichever team played the Patriots and their article comments would be full of Patriot fans making asses of themselves. I even remember one time going to the Jags' newspaper site after they lost to the Pats and sure enough, Pats fans flooded the comments with comments about how the Jags sucked, etc. The most gratifying part of SB 42 was that after the game, I went to the Boston newspaper sites and fans from almost every team in the league were lighting it up and teeing off.

1st off NO Boston paper ever printed that, the Globe was taking pre-orders for a 19-0 season IF the Patriots had won. They played the Giants close to the end of the season in NE and the Pat's prevailed by a FG. Much like the 1st SB with the Pats/Rams, no one thought the Giants would be there and few gave them a shot at winning, they were playing with "house $$" so to speak. Few gave the Vikings any shot of winning today in that hostile, loud as fuck dome.

Ok, I stand corrected - it was the preorder I was thinking about.

I don't understand the Saints. I really thought this was their year.

I really wanted the Saints to advance. Not sure how many more seasons Brees has left in him. But the window sure is getting narrow.

Sometimes it seems that when your heavily favored, (specially at home), the pressure can be more than the visiting team. It looked like the Saints were in somewhat of a state of shock at just how well the Vikings were performing.

At the Saint's expense, again. Looks like the Vikings got Cook and a few others back and played a hell of a ballgame.
Even though I wanted the Saints to advance. And I have really no clue...but does anyone think the Viking "pushed off" or didnt ? Should have been reviewed, or not ?

looked like a slight push off...but the defender had hands all over him as well, so...off-setting fouls, replay the down? I don't think the refs thought either was serious enough to flag.

And that's the key, for the most part the Ref's have done a good job of not throwing tick-tack flags this weekend, there's always some contact between receiver/defender and that was negligible. Hell of a pass by Cousins though, it's like he tazed 75,000 people at once..

Boom Vikings advance to San Fran. No PI on that last TD. Yes they were both handsy but nothing rose to the level of a flag. Kirk Cousins finally with a signature win, in OT nonetheless.
