Easiest and most reliable board would be the MSI K7T Pro2(a).

Overall, the speeds of the PIII and the TBird are comparable. No, the TBird 700e will beat the PIII in many benchmarks. However, if you get a PIII at a 133FSB, they should be roughly equal. The PIII will then beat the TBird and vise versa.
