Hi, I bought a tp-link WiFi extender but during set up, it asked me to enter the name and password of my WiFi network. I don't know what else could be sent to the company. Then I read that tp-link and netgear products have security risk. QNAP is also infamous for that. So for network switch and wifi extender/mesh, which companies and products are reliable and trustable?

For mesh wifi products, if I connect one directly to the router via ethernet cable and the other through WiFi, do I also need to submit the ssid and password of my network? Once I plugged it in the router, will it be able to retrieve some sensitive information and send to the company?

Yes, by obtaining your SSID and wifi security password, it will send all of your Princess Diana Pr0n to the FBI, the IRS, and the Parks Service.

I am no network expert but I am pretty sure that to extend your WIFI coverage, an extender will need to access your wireless network first and that requires your network's credentials.
