Which states allow you to make a right turn at a red arrow.

I am trying to find a list of states that allows you to turn against a red arrow, if you are making a right turn.

All I know is that you can make a right turn on a red light in Canada, so long as a sign isn't posted saying otherwise.

But we all know the states have some wacky laws.

KS allows you to make right turns at red lights. I'm not sure I've ever seen a right-facing red arrow there, however.

A red arrow pointing to the right. In California you can't turn against it, but I am sure some other states allow you too.

Red arrow is there for a specific reason - no turn on red. Period.

If the red arrow is pointing to the right, then you are not allowed. If the red arrow is pointing to the left for the cars in the left turn lane and you are in the right lane, then you are allowed to make a right (when traffic permits). However, if the left red arrow turns green and you are in the right turn lane while the cars are turning and you turn, you're a dumbass.

NJ/NY( Not in NYC AFAIK). And unless there is a sign posted no Turn on Red,
you're golden

**Edit**

I've never seen a arrow pointing right. It's always pointing left from my experience

the arrow is usually there vs the normal circle to indicate that you need the corresponding green arrow to turn, hence no turn on red arrow

Then why the heck would it would be a red arrow pointing right? Otherwise they would've made it solid red...

what would the point of putting a red arrow pointing right if they allowed turns, that seems stupid.

We can't turn at red right arrows here in Michigan - because we don't have red right arrows. We can turn right on a red light unless explicitly told not to.

Thats what I would say too. Personally I'm not sure if I have ever even seen one, the arrows are usually left turns. Like you say, if you could turn into it then it would be the exact same as a normal red light and there would be no reason to have an arrow in the first place.

What is odd, we have an intersection here with 3 right turn lanes, only the 2 outer lanes have a red arrow, the inner one has a dot. So the inner one only needs to stop and go, while the outer ones need to wait for it to turn green. I didn't realize this, and turn in the outer lane while it was a red arrow, got pulled over, but the cop was nice enough to let me off with a warning.

Red arrows? What kind of nonsense is this? I've only seen red arrows in two places... Nevada and New Jersey.

There's a funny intersection in Los Angeles, a 3-way T-intersection, which features the wackiest light I've ever seen. If you're sitting on the terminating road at the intersection, you see a stoplight with only TWO lights. One is a flashing red; the other is a solid red right-facing arrow. If you've got the red arrow... no right turns, period. If you've got the flashing red light, you may turn right only when safe. Left turns aren't permitted at all.

I would say that a red arrow specifically addresses the action of turning, and actively prohibits it. I would be very surprised if anyone let you turn right against a right-facing red arrow. If it was allowed, the light would be circular.

I've seen the right turn arrows before, and I never had a clue that you can make a turn in the direction of a red arrow in some states.

I'm pretty sure this is it. If there's an arrow, turns are strictly governed and can't be gone against. If it's just a normal signal, you can right-on-red unless there's a sign.

Speaking of arrows, I got my wife to believe that she could make a left turn on a left arrow if noone was coming. It was funny, she's pretty gullible. I once got her to look when I told her there was a 3 legged horse in a pasture.

I don't think I've ever seen a right turn arrow in Oregon, but if I ever encountered one, unless it was marked otherwise, I would not wait for the light.

have them all over here in Riverside, my GF works at the courts in the traffic division so I asked her about these. In California (don't know about other states) you cannot turn, right up the street they installed a red right turn light and a camera I watch the camera flash and people get tickets every day.
