I'd go with Crucial M4 simply because its been out longer and their consistent Firmware upgrades have fixed all known issues. Samsung got a BSOD, so they aren't immune either and it took two Firmware flashes to fix it.

Luckily, they've issued a firmware update to fix the problem, so this shouldn't affect the OP's decision.

It seems that in this generation, every manufacturer has had firmware issues. I'm waiting for problems to surface on my Corsair PP, since it's still on firmware version 1.0.

This issue probably puts confidence level in Samsung on equal footing with Intel at this point.

I would say Intel is a smidge above Samsung in consumer confidence, but Samsung being Apple's provider of choice is probably the ultimate endorsement in the SSD industry.
Until the 520 release, I'd still have to go with the 830.

The 1st update from 2 weeks ago solved the issue, the 2nd update was for the update tool. This was a rapid discovery of the issue and turnaround in the league of Intel and Crucial.

I'm currently using the Samsung support. I reinstalled my system in UEFI mode with GPT instead of traditional BIOS & MBR and most of the features of the SSD Magician have stopped working.

I've had regular contact with their support contact centre and they're looking into why it doesn't work in with GPT so so far I think the support has been OK.

They fixed a BSOD issue that to my knowledge wasn't even affecting end-users. They found it, and fixed it as quickly as Intel or Crucial would. The firmware tool issue was a bigger deal than the original problem, which was promptly fixed.

Support seems fine to me.

I still got love for Intel over all, once they get that 520 to us.
