Pay the extra and get intel. Seems like all the reviews are 99% positive. Why would you risk data just to save a few dollars. I look at the reviews for OCZ and it baffles me why people continue to follow each other off the cliff.

Personally, I'm planning on getting a Plextor to replace my small Agility3, but at that price I would get the Intel.

Get the M4 if price is of concern. Otherwise the Plextor is solid.
Don't get a SF based drive, even the Intel ones.

I am hearing rumors of the Intel/Sandforce drives starting to have issues also, but haven't seen any documentation yet. Have you seen anything solid on this yet anywhere?

The M4 > All price performance ratio cannot be matched. And they are constantly supporting it makes me have trust in the product!

m4 or 830. The 830 is slightly faster and has a good toolbox but also slightly more expensive.

What was the point in making a thread on this, only to ignore everything that everybody said, and then go and order a bigger version of the SSD you already have?

I have a Vertex 3 240GB, and I have the Mushkin 120GB as my OS drive.

I just cancelled the order, I can't make up my mind.

Point? How is it pointless when I read all the posts, and determined after reading what others said and still decided to go with a Mushkin? Maybe I don't see much input from the posts? Or maybe I don't agree?

Anyway I would like the Plextor but it's to much money right now, and seems like we maybe seeing some more price drops... So I will wait now for a bit see what happens.

Thanks!

Agree with Coup. If you dont agree then you already made up your mind beforehand, becuse you made no counter points.

Youre a waste of time.

I have an M4 as my boot drive now and love it, but if I got another, it'd probably the the Samsun 830.

I like the Samsung also from what I have read... but it's a bit expensive and for that price I would rather get the Plextor M3 Pro...
I am going to wait a bit, I think we are approaching a 1$/GB pricing soon as some driver are the cheap now... If that happens then I can pick up a nice 512GB Marvell based one...

Unless someone knows if they are coming out with newer SSD controllers? I though I read somewhere we were getting new ones soon?

The only thing new is the Vertex4 which has the Indilinx controller... but you are probably going to have to pay for that 'newness.'

I would think OCZ would price those a little lower to try to get people to try them, if they are that much better than the SandForce units. They need to do some serious sucking up to get consumers over the whole SandForce issue.

Marvell's new controller has shipped, supposedly. OCZ's new Vertex 4 is Marvell based and speculation is that it is based on the new Marvell controller. If that is accurate it seems like other manufacturers should also be releasing drives built with the newer controller.

If OCZ are close to releasing a drive based on the new Marvell controller then I would suspect Crucial might also be working on something. If I wanted a new Marvell based drive I know what I would do.

Keep in mind the reads on the m3 and m3p are the same just a couple extra mbs on writes. Personally i would just look at the standard m3.

I would find it hard to believe that a person could actually notice the difference between any SATA3 SSD in real world usage scenarios. People put too much weight on benchmarks.
