Corsair Force Series GT = uses SF2281
Crucial M4 = uses Marvell 9174

Did I get that right? The SF drives seem to have excellent performance, but reliability and compatibility seem to be very hit or miss. Though the M4 has not benched necessarily as high in some tests, I'd say it's probably as "safe" a bet as it gets for that SSD price point.

I think the Force 3 has better performance, although the 0009 firmware for the m4 closes the gap some. But any small performance difference between the two would only be noticeable in benchmarks, both will be very fast and a huge upgrade over an HDD.

I'd recommend the m4, far fewer compatibility issues, BSODs, etc. than SandForce based drives like the Vertex 3, Force 3, etc. Also don't get the m4 128GB from NewEgg, can be found for about $20 less if you shop around.

I recently installed the Crucial and love it. I got it for $160 from Buy.com. It's currently $180 in the Hot Deals forum but assume you'll find it cheaper again.

Overall the Corsair is quite a bit faster but due to the SF2281 controller has a lot more hardware compatibility issues.

Force Series 3 and Force Series GT are two different SSDs.
Force Series 3 is using asynchronous NAND
Force Series GT is using synchronous NAND

I've had both. And yes the M4 was slower than the Force Gt. But with the new 009 firmware its just as fast, but IMO much more reliable. Plus you get 8GB's more. I ended up returning the Force Gt and keeping the M4...
