Am I better off with a receiver/amplifier and home audio speakers or an actual set of computer speakers such as the Klipsch Pro-Medias?

Right now I have a pair of Bose bookshelf speakers and a 10" sub handling the bass. I think I just might get a high-end pair of speakers to add to what I have?

If you don't mind spending the extra cash a good reciever/amp and some decent loud speakers will destroy anything in the computer realm.
Especially if you have a 10" sub ;)

I'd definately get a pair of good loudspeakers to go with that 10 incher, forget PC speakers.

And just an FYI the Boston Acoustics BA-4800s are a far better 4.1 set than the ProMedias.

/me puts on his flame retardant suit.

i would add to what you have.

Altho the klipschs are nice (i have em, can't afford the theater setup)..
I would prefer a REAL home system. Sure, some say computer speakers can match it these days, but for me, the feeling of a real system is still different, and i'd prefer it for relaxin.

Then again, this is my opinion in the event my computer wouldn't be hooked up to it.

SO.... how much would it cost you to keep your setup and add? Is it more than $250? Is it worth the hassle to move crap (may be, may not be a problem)?

Ok cool, that's what I thought guys, but I wasn't sure. I'll look for a good pair of speakers after the holidays then.

Well, here we go again. Actually, anyone who knows speakers really well will tell you that you should listen to speakers before you consider what is the best. Choosing speakers is a very subjective thing, and to get a set just because someone else said they are better is not the best choice in my opinion. I have had both sets and I sent my BA4800's back once I listened to the Promedia's, they were just on another level to me. I wish I had listened to both first instead of just buying one because some people said they were better, it would have saved me a bunch in shipping sending those BA's back. It depends on how your ears like the speakers, and the same set of speakers will sound different to different people and in different locations. I am gonna pick up a set of the 2.1 ProMedia's and pair them with my 4.1's to make a 600W 6.2 set-up. Noriaki, this forum is for people to hear different people's opinions, if your opinion doesn't agree with mine or anyone else's, that's no need for flaming.
