well i'll mostly be using it to play games and listen to music. i currently have an OLD logitech 5.1 in which i dont even use the rear speakers because it is a hassle to put them behind my chair every time. so i've decided to go with 2.1 audio.

nothing too expensive. i've been looking at the Klipsch Promedia 2.1.

for games, i wanna be able to hear exactly where the footsteps of my opponents are.(cs)

for music, i absolutely HAVE to hear every instrument in full clarity. i wanna discover instruments that were previously "not there".

ive searched the forums and hear almost everyone recommend Klipsch Promedia 2.1s and i've went to read a bunch of reviews about them and they pretty much sound like the right choice. so unless someone can recommend me a better audio system, ill be waiting for the Klipsch's to go on sale.

P.S. if you know of a reliable place that is having these on sale as well, please post it here!

thanks

To throw you a curveball, headphones will fit your needs better than most speakers. Promedias are really nice, but for precise sound placement and music clarity, I've found nothing beats even relatively mediocre headphones like KSC75s. Get yourself a set of full-size, open headphones (something like the Sennheiser HD595 or HD555) and enjoy.

But if you're absolutely stuck on speakers, the Promedia 2.1s are pretty much the best 2.1 speaker set you can get for around $100, unless you get into studio monitors.

i do have a plantronic headset. its pretty good, but i dont like always having to wear a headset when im gaming/listening to music. gaming i sometimes put them on, but never for music.

Even with tweaked EAX settings, I don't think this would be possible...is it? I mean, that's the reason for the other speakers, right?
