I'm going to upgrade from the onboard sound ont he Msi K7T Pro2, And I was wondering if I should get Philips Acoustic Edge, SB Live! Value(Or gaming one) or, Santa Cruz. I mainly run Win 98 SE for now, But when I get more ram I will most likely be swithcing to Win 2k. Thanks.

I would go for the SBLive! Value unless you want the games that come with the XGamer. XGamer, MP3, and platinum are then same card with different bundles.

Philips is the most advanced card of the three. I replaced my SB Live 5.1 Platium with the AE and it is great. I am even using it in Win2k with no problems. The QMSS performs very well.. I have no experience with the Santa Cruz though.

I'd go for an Aureal, they are getting to be so cheap if you have problems you can throw them out. Not only are they cheap but A3D is a more advanced 3d sound system than EAX. SB Live! is turning into outdated crap.

I had mucho problems with a MX300 (Aureal 2500) on a Pro2 under W2k. The sound would crash within a minute or two, sometimes while loading W2K when it plays that tra-la-la chime. The card works fine on a BX in both 98SE and W2K so it ain't a problem with the card. Tried the beta drivers, no hardware acceleration, etc., ended up enabling the Pro2 onboard sound till I pick up something else. With a Creative you will at least get driver support.
