Which soundcard to get? *POLL*

I just got the santa Cruz...wonderful sound card! Of course, I'm in firmly in the creative-hater category...

What will you be using your soundcard for? What types of connectors are necessary to you? What kind of speakers/headphones do you use? Do you use speakers or headphones more often?

Answer these questions and the choice of which sound card will become clearer.

I want a soundcard that has CLEAR output since I am an avid gamer n i listen to a lot of mp3s. I have a pair of Sony MDR-V700 headphones and the logitech Z-560s. I use them both all the time.

If you want clear output, the Turtle Beach is pretty much considered to be the best "sounding" card out there, followed closely by the other three. Since I'm also an avid member of the "creative-hater" clan, I don't reccomend the audigy (their intrusive software is enough for me to not buy it). The Phillips is supposedly a very good card.

In terms of audiophile quality, all of them are fairly trashy, but everyone I've spoken too indicates that the sound quality on the Turtle Beach is just a bit above other mainstream cards.

That fact that you use headphones a lot and a 4.1 speakers setup makes the Phillips AE far less attractive. The Audigy Platinum and GTXP are really only worth it if you need all those extra connectors. They are too costly otherwise. With all that in mind, I would go with the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz. With the versajack you can have your speakers and headphones connected at the same time. As well, it has some of the highest rated sound quality around, especially for headphones and speaker setups besides the 5.1 method. It's not bad for 5.1s, the Phillips AE is just better. The drivers also seem to be very solid. It's positional audio isn't bad either.
