Which Sound Card is better

The SB Live 5.1 is 16bit with extra goodies for gaming so that'd be my choice between the 2 but if you are into digital sound encoding/recording and the like over having the goodies then go for the 24 bit card which has the better specs...CD's are 16bit whereas DVD's are @ 24bit
 
24-bit, IMO. I'd suggest getting great speakers before you go ahead and purchase a separate sound card for your system. I made the mistake of buying a $90 Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS sound card without the money to buy great speakers, nor the space to put them, so I ****ed up. Oh well.
