I have a Soundblaster Live Value and a Diamond Monster Sound MX300 (two of those actually) but they just aren't meeting my needs here. My motherboard Abit KT7A-RAID and my speakers are Altec Lansing ADA880. What I really need is a card that:
*Has good Win2k driver support
*Works well with VIA chipset boards
*Has an S/PDIF Coaxial (RCA) or Miniplug output that will connect to the digital input on my speakers
*Uses that S/PDIF output for all sound, not just Dolby Digital sources, and
*Is under $50 or alternately involves an upgrade to my SB Live.
I've looked at the Hoontech digital daughterboards and they look promising, but I need to know for certain if they will use that digital out for all sound. I don't want to have to fall back to the analog output for most of my sound output. And I also could use a good place to get one of those daughterboards if they work well.
Anybody out there have any experiences with trying to get such a setup to work? I could also use anyone's experiences with hooking home stereo receivers up to a Win2k/KT133A system using the coax digital output.
Thanks for your help!
