Hello,

One person got a $500 to spend before new year ... he just got new Dell computer (thx to hot deals 🙂 ) ... so, he wanted to buy nice cd-rw , I recommended him plextor 24x which he already ordered ...

now, he is also a musician, and that's his main computer use ... so he wants to buy nice sound card (not very expensive one though) in which he can plug-in many different devices (guitars and such) ... which one should he get ...

also, he got very old monitor, so I suggested him to upgrade that too ... the good thing is probably to get a nice LCD ? ... which one would you recommend .... (he has $500-$150(plextor)=$350 left) .

thx 🙂

You're going to be hard pressed to find a good sound card and a good monitor for $350, especially a good LCD. The sound should be pretty easy, just get something that has a breakout box like the Hercules Gaming Theater XP which can be had OEM at Newegg.com for $99. There is also a SB Audigy card Platinum, I think for around $250. You're on your own with the monitor.

yes, sorry, I was fully "price" aware 🙂 LCD is outta of question ... but what about 19" Samsung 955DF? 🙂

also, how is Santa Cruz ?

thx

Hmm, I'm not a musician, so this comment might be hella stupid! :Q

Anyway, does he have a MIDI box or something to plug his guitar into? Unless a guitar can be plugged into a standard Audio In, there are no cheap sound cards that you can just plug a guitar into.
