Which SOUND CARD and CD-RW to get?

I was looking at www.newegg.com for a new sound card and CDRW

Is the Audigy pretty much top of the line? What's the difference between the Audigy and the Audigy Gamer? I don't want to spend more than $70

Which CD-RW is most compatible with CloneCD? How's the Lite-on 24X model?

You can never go wrong with Lite-On 24/10/40
As for the sound card, Audigy isnt a bad sound card at all. However, if you are worried about issues with VIA chipset, you should consider Santa Cruz or Hercules GTXP.

I'll pretty much second that. Lite-On is good. I like my Plextor as well.

As for the sound card, I really like my TB Santa Cruz. The SB had far too many issues. I'll never buy another Creative sound card again.

I think I want to get the Audigy since is has FireWire built in, and I know it will work cause I have a SB Live right now. But does anyone know the difference between the standard Audigy, the XGamer, and the Mp3 Audigy?

The software bundles, all the hardware is the same, simply different software come with each, MP3+ comes with mp3 software, xgamer with games, platnium the whole deal with break out box etc..

Since price is a concern, definitely get the OEM boxed Audigy. The hardware is the same, and they provide you with less junk to worry about. This overly materialistic person I know wants an Audigy Platinum-ex (the whole package), and I was not able to convince him that the regular Audigy OEM for $60 will be as good as his Platinum-ex ($250). Unless you think that the extra stuff will benefit you, the Audigy OEM is the card to have.
