which one is a better LCD? Are Sony LCDs even any good?

Don't the Sony LCD's have slow pixel refreshes in the are of 50 ms? I think the most recommended LCD's around here are Planars and Samsung. I would recommend the Samsung 181T pretty much because it's what I have and I absolutely love it. Regardless of what you get, look for a response time of 25 ms or less to minimize ghosting in games and lcds. You can check out monitors and compare specs at Monitors Direct
 
Sony LCD uses LG-Philips panel, why not buy Philips LCD, for the price of Sony thick bezel 17", you could almost buy a Philips thin bezel 18".
Sony is hype, overpriced.
