The DOS version of pkzip always worked good for me--back in the days when I used floppies. Try winzip?

winzip? Can that do it? I have win rar but I hate that program . The one Im looking for is a simple program splitter that will install a program larger then 1.4 megs with floppys

Actually, I knew that WinZip does that. However, they only allow you to zip to/from the
floppy but no where else.

You might also try PC Mag's Slice32. It will let you take any kind of large file and split it into pieces that will fit on floppies. It is qite handy if floppies are your only option for moving files between machines. For that matter, it does not have to be floppies; you could use it to, say, split a really large file across several zip disks.

i'm gonna have to vote for winrar here... you can split up any file into compressed pieces of any size you desire, then put them back together again... i believe you can even make it self extracting
