Which socket A MBs will run the memory slower than the FSB?

I know that isn't the best idea but I have 768megs of older memory, 512megs of ddr333 and a 256meg stick of ddr266, and I need to upgrade. I would like to do the 2500+ barton overclock but there is no way either of those sticks are going to make ddr400 speeds. I would just go ahead and get new memory but I have blown a lot of cash this month already and would like to hold off on the memory for awhile.

I haven't been able to find much info on this other than this albatron board. None of the reviews really talk about this feature since they all go for max speed.

Any current sktA board with the proper bios adjustments will let you run the ram and fsb out of synch. The nF2 will take a performance hit due to increased latency, but I have no idea how the KT600 handles it. Anywho, it's not much of a real world difference between synch and asynch in most cases with the nF2 even though benchies make it look more dramatic, so grab a board*that Albatron is nice* and use all that ram :)

Thats what I am starting to discover. Its just none of the manuals I have read really make it clear. Sofar the only one that really stated that you can run the memory slower than the FSB is this MSI one.

I'm in the same boat as you are with 3 sticks of older ram (512-333, 256-333, 256-266 all Kingstons) and simply want to do an upgrade of mb + cpu without having to pay again for the 1 gig of ram. Right now I have a non overclocked Athlon XP 1700+ (.18 micron) and Geforce4 4200. I'm also thinking of upgrading to Barton. Is my current processor holding me back or should I just wait for Athlon 64 to come down in price in 6 months and in new platform?
