Which society in history was the most decadent? Where does current society rank?

Have you ever wondered if the society we live in today was better or worse than those in the past? Usually right before a nation crumbles upon itself the downfall in many cases can be directly connected to a corrupt and decadent society. How close is the world to the end right now? Who's going to end up as the next world power? And once the power changes hands how bloody will it be?

I'd imagine in another 20-40 years America will be a weak parody of it's former self.

The next major power will be China I'd guess.

As far as it being a bloody changing of the guard, I doubt it will be. A nations power in current times is more a factor of it's economy than it's military might. The next power change will probably be more like a boat race and less like a boxing match.
