This is not a comparison of similar phones. Looking to hit some kind of sweetspot but also curious about a high end device. My cell company is about to eliminate new activations on their old $25 "unlimited" plan so if I want the old plan I must choose soon and then stay put for as long as the phone lasts. Once it breaks I'll be forced to go to the new plans.
1) Keep current Moto G gen 1 and either stay on $10 unlimited talk, text and picture texts with no data or switch to $25 "unlimited" data (throttled after 5GB).
2) Upgrade to the best phone that is still eligible to get on the old $25 "unlimited" plan, maybe a used Moto G3 or similar.
3) Bite bullet and get on the new plan with only 1GB data but then have new phones available like the Moto G5 plus or the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge. They will not activate these phones on the old plan.
Suggestions?
What is the S7 going to do that the G5 can't? Will whatever that is require a lot of data (cause I won't be on a plan with much data if I go for a new phone)?
I really like the $25 "unlimited' plan but I don't really need it because my wife has a Moto G3 on the $25 unlimited plan so I can always just borrow her phone.
