Which Smart Phone Would You Recommend the Most?

Alright it depends on what you want to use it for and your budget. Most people would say, get the iPhone, the iPhone is the best, it's the best smartphone ever, and yeah...I would agree as well (I have an iPhone 3GS myself), however if your after something else, I would recommend something that runs on Google's Android software.

The iPhone led to the smartphone application boom however the Android market is really catching up. If I had to recommend a smartphone other than the iPhone it would be a HTC; either the Wildfire, Desire or Hero.

The Wildfire is great if your on a budget because it only costs $350 (Australian price) outright. Just like any other Android phone minus the price.

The Desire and Hero are great iPhone alternatives and although they are more expensive compared to the Wildfire, it is worth the money as they come with better specs and cameras.

Overall my suggestion would be:
Smartphone recommendation: Apple's iPhone (3GS or 4, nothing older)
Alternative recommendation: HTC smartphone that runs on Android (Wildfire, Desire, Hero)

The iPhone is the best model out, but then again it is relative and depends on your needs. For one, not everybody likes touchscreen.

I would say that the HTC handsets, plus the Samsung Galaxy S and Google Nexus S are the other top models out. Blackberry, despite being very popular sales wise, are sub-order smartphones (especially the Bold and Curve that everybody has now) and I've never heard much about Sony, LG, Nokia or Motorola.

Samsung Captivate + Andromeda 2.0

The stock build for the Galaxy S phones isn't the best but if you are willing to install one of the many excellent custom roms the phone is tough to beat.

Droid X + Rom. It is probably the best phone I've ever had the pleasure of using.

If you had to buy one NOW? Probably the Droid X if you're a Verizon customer or the EVO 4G if you're on Sprint. Maybe the iPhone 4 on AT&T, since I haven't found an Android phone on that network that I like yet.

I'd personally wait for the dual core 4G phones that are coming out soon if you can, though.

Windows 7 phones are another good alternative. I don't have much experience with them, but they are looking promising IMO. I got to play around with a Samsung focus the other day and it was a nice phone. Of course nothing is going to beat the Iphone in terms of the software library.

at&t: now, iphone 4. wait a bit? iphone 5 or atrix 4g
verizon: now? iphone 4 or droid x. wait a bit? iphone 5 or droid bionic
sprint: now? evo 4g. don't really know what's coming up for sprint...
tmobile: now? mytouch 4g or G2. wait a bit? lg optimus 2x.

It took me a while to choose, but I came up with the Droid X. Big screen, great battery life. The iphone might take better pictures, but overall I'd choose the Droid X over it any day.

It's really dependent on what you need.

For me, I chose the iPhone for it's speed, apps, and it's overall polished integration.

I think the android with all the fluff is just too much work to do just to get the phone to work. I'd go with iphone 4 and JB. Android devices i have used G1, MT3G, Nexus One, Vibrant, Nexus S, MT4G and i am still not convinced if all the mess of root, and load custom roms is worth it over the best out of the box phone currently in the market. Note if you don't root android is just another garbage OS full of bloat you can't remove anything and get bombarded with admob ads if you try to play angry birds or dare to try any free aps, android is as locked as iOS although people feel like changing wallpapers, adding widgets means freedom but you can't even delete "amazon mp3" without root.
