honestly, i hate apple and ipods b/c of the hundreds i have to send off to be fixed every month at work. its hard for me to buy one seeing all the returns etc... also i don't like that i am forced to sync it with itunes. i would just rather drag and drop. i currently looking at the sandisk sanso e200 series. its packed with features. im really just looking for something around 2-4 gigs that is small and play mp3s and has a decent screen.

other side of me says well ipods break cause average consumer is stupid and doesn't know how to treat/use them. maybe i will have no problems at all. i dunno

anyone have sanso or can recommend different mp3 player. thanks

Let's spill out the recommendations:

iRiver Clix, Creative Zen V Plus, Sansa e2x0, Mobiblu Cube2, Samsung YP-K5, and many, many more smaller players and lesser-name players. I just picked one from the major names.

😉 enjoy

If I were to recommend something, I'd pick the Zen V Plus or the iRiver Clix.

by the way, as devil's advocate, the reason you are seeing so many broken iPods is because there are so many more iPods in the market than anything else.

I would also look at the SanDisk line. The e280 is awesome, and most SanDisk players have user replaceable/rechargeable Li-ION batteries. That is the iPods biggest downside. The battery must be recharged in the player - which suggests down time.

San

I have a Creative Zen-Vision player w/30 GB drive and a nice big screen - but that is another class. I have really liked it on trips. It will connect to large TVs and play stored movies - great in hotels, etc.

Because there are so many Sandisk recommendations, I have to give a word of caution first. Make sure you go to a store and check out the Sansa first BEFORE you buy it. The main point of contention here is the tactical scroll wheel. Play around with it and see if you like it; personally, I despise it and won't get a Sansa because of it.

Good call... I personally love the scroll wheel, but i can understand someone not being so fond of it. And i'd definitly recommend the sansa e series over the c series. Just nicer, IMHO.

Also the sansa has FM radio (including record capability!)
